We had talk about the power of compounding. Now, Let’s go into the baby step of investing.
You may wonder, what to buy first. Stocks of the companies? And heard about people saying about Unit Trust? How about Bonds? And many others terms that are stranger to you, which I can’t completely understand them as well.
The most easiest is to invest into index fund or ETF (Exchange Traded Fund). Take STI (Straits Times Index) for example; It is an indicator to tell us how well that Singapore is doing financially.
Basically, this STI is tracking the performance of below 31 companies. And this list will get reviewed quarterly based on their financial performance of course.

So, buying all these 31 stocks gonna be killer, just too expensive. Luckily, there are fund houses buying all these 31 stocks and re-sell them in another stock, which back to our index fund or ETF. And, in a cheaper option. One of them is G3B.SI from Nikko AM.
So you could invest a fixed amount every month. And just keep it there for 10-ish years. Some may go for extreme, half of the salary into the ETF. Of course, there are many ETFs out in this world, go and look for them!
Index Fund 101:
What does healthy meant
- Full of energy for whole day
- Can run for at 30mins non stop
- Looks good on any dress and shirt
- Able resist the temptation of sugary stuff all the time
- Not easily to get angry for small matters
- Able to keep calm in “agitated” situation
- Don’t smoke
- Having good memory that like last forever
- Able to look after the people around you
- Basically looks good outside and inside, in short
Getting a fixed salary and hoping for good bonus at certain period of the year is not going to help you to retire in good shape in future. We must invest!
Daily job is working for money, you get the salary after you have put in your effort for the company.
Investment is different, you pour in the money, and the money works for you. In fact, you getting more people to help you to earn the extra money.
Simply put, investment is kind of like compound interest.

We mentioned before, when they body is resting for longer period, as in not spending energy for digesting food, our body will be in a cell fixing state.

Fasting: Before and After
Our dear parents might be one or tow of the people surrounding us that not taking our advices seriously.
Take example, ask them not to take porridge (or congee) for the breakfast or in the event of falling sick, they just won’t listen to it. Another example, ask them not to eat the rice at all, it’s like going to take their life.
Well, luckily my father kind follow the advice at once. He lost over 20kg over 1 year of time. And he maintains below 70 (from over 90) for years.
He previously already ditched the carbs for about 1 year, later on he skipped the breakfast entirely, until now. Once in a while, he practice one meal a day as well.

One Meal A Day is an eating lifestyle that can greatly improve your health. But is it suitable for everyone?
It’s been few months that I personally practice OMAD on the weekdays. Still 2 meals per day over the weekend because that’s the family day that everyone must enjoy!
Do I feel hungry? Not really, since I skipped the breakfast from mid-2019, there isn’t much noise coming from the stomach anymore; the ghrelin is well tamed.
However, is it good for the body?
Don’t our grandparents and parents always remind us to take 3 meals per day. Wrong habit. Our body needs good rest to do cell fixing, that’s the time the unwanted substance or old parts get recycled. Having 3 meals per day won’t help, because digestion consumes too much of our energy.
Alright, how to begin OMAD?
Start by skipping the breakfast.
Is high cholesterol matter?
“Your LDL is way too high, which is bad cholesterol”

But is that true?
Let’s look at the functions of cholesterol
- Building material for hormone
- Cure for inflammation
- Material for making vitamin D under the ultraviolet from sunlight (7-dehydrocholesterol)
- Material for making bile acid to digest fat and oil
- Material for cell membranes (30%), responsible for the cell signaling as well
In fact, triglycerides should be the indicator to tell us whether our blood is too “fatty”.
So you don’t really need to care about HDL or LDL, they are simply doing their jobs. Actually the carbs are the problem, that inflame the blood vessel, and hence LDL needs to do its job to repair them.
