Is high cholesterol matter?

“Your LDL is way too high, which is bad cholesterol”

Have you heard of it so often upon getting the blood test result?

But is that true?

Let’s look at the functions of cholesterol

  • Building material for hormone
  • Cure for inflammation
  • Material for making vitamin D under the ultraviolet from sunlight (7-dehydrocholesterol)
  • Material for making bile acid to digest fat and oil
  • Material for cell membranes (30%), responsible for the cell signaling as well

In fact, triglycerides should be the indicator to tell us whether our blood is too “fatty”.

So you don’t really need to care about HDL or LDL, they are simply doing their jobs. Actually the carbs are the problem, that inflame the blood vessel, and hence LDL needs to do its job to repair them.
